Meadow Brook hall wedding: Shannon & Cory

10.25.19 - weddings by Kristin G.

Shannon is a bride after my own heart. I knew every detail of this day would be exquisite and I was right on! Our day began at the Shinola Hotell, where Shannon had reserved two of the best rooms in the building! One room was reserved for her getting ready with gorgeous open windows for tons of natural light and the other with an outdoor balcony where she and her bridesmaids could relax as they prepped for the day! I audibly gasped as I saw her details, including her beautiful gown with a lace bodice overlay. After she was ready and I finally made myself stop taking portraits in her hotel room, it was time for Shannon to see Cory, who looked ever-so-handsome, in the streets of Detroit. After some smiles, hugs and laughs, we shot portraits at the Detroit Public Library and then headed over to Sainte Anne parish de Detroit for the beautiful ceremony. One of my favorite moments of the day was between Shannon and her Dad for his own first look at his daughter at the church — there was not a dry eye in the room!

As if we already did not hit several amazing locations on this day, it was then time to head over to Meadow Brook hall for the reception. Some portraits of these two lovebirds (and their sweet pup!) and some group shots of a HUGE family took place in the front of the mansion prior to their grand entrance into the famous tent to celebrate with their family and friends. The room was set up to have an uber-swanky vibe, including an amazing floral backdrop made by the bride’s mother for the Photo Booth, which was one of my favorite details! I had the best time celebrating these two and wish them a lifetime of happiness.

Congrats, Shannon+Cory! xo

The garden theater Detroit wedding: Hilary & Larry

10.23.19 - weddings by Stephanie

Hilary and Larry’s wedding was such a treat to photograph. From the moment we arrived at the Shinola Hotel, my crew and I knew that the day was going to be special.

This was my first time shooting at this establishment, and I couldn’t have been more pleased with the room layout. The adorable boutique furniture pieces, and industrial floor to ceiling windows truly set the stage for gorgeous “getting ready” shots.

And, I really admired that the couple incorporated their love of Detroit into their wedding day photos. They chose to hold their formals at The Detroit Athletic Club (where Larry is a member), as well as at Hart Plaza. It was very important to them that elements of their beloved city be visible in the pictures- including the gorgeous Detroit skyline and Renaissance Center. Luckily, I was more than happy to oblige!

The duo’s ceremony and reception took place at the amazing Garden Theater . I simply adore the venue’s hip and classy vibe. And, the stunning florals by Viviano Flower Shop and chosen details truly made the pair’s wedding one-of-a-kind. The pair chose to incorporate significant dances from their cultural backgrounds, and even decided to have ice cream sandwiches by Cool Jacks in lieu of wedding cake! These personal touches truly made the day extra special!

It was so wonderful to be a part of Hilary and Larry’s wedding, and I just know that they have many happy years ahead of them!

Rochester Engagement session: Andrea & Jeff

10.23.19 - engagements by Kristin G.

I met Andrea+Jeff out at her family's property by Paint Creek Trail in Rochester, which was super fun for me because I had never shot at this trail before. I love engagement sessions because it really allows me to get the vibe of my couples and it allows them the opportunity to see the way we will work together — and I think that alleviates some of the anxiety and pressure of being in front of the camera.

These two were complete naturals and I love that they brought their super sweet rescue pup to the session (who stole the show!)! The sun kept popping through those clouds to give us lovely light (you know how I feel about that sunshine!) and I had the best time getting to know them as we walked up and down the trail and shot along the property. It made me super excited to photograph their wedding next fall.

Congratulations, you two! xo

detroit engagement session: Jen & Jared

10.23.19 - engagements by Kristin G.

I love shooting downtown for my engagement sessions. It’s just a little bit easier to make your way around the city when it’s just the two of you, or in this case, the two of you and your rescue pup!

I met Jen+Jared down at the Detroit Institute of Arts and it was a glorious almost-fall day filled with lots of sunshine. These two have killer style and I love how they play off of one another’s personalities. Jen proclaims that Jared is the fun one, and while I can see that he’s definitely someone everyone enjoys being around, Jen’s smile is so warm and inviting and I truly enjoyed my time with them. After some snuggling in front of the DIA, we headed over to The Belt for some street and sunset shots as the day came to a close. I’m very much looking forward to shooting their wedding this Spring. It will be here before we know it! xo

Myth Banquet Hall wedding: Melissa & Alex

10.18.19 - weddings by Kristin G.

I’m not sure there will ever be a more easy-going bride than Melissa: this girl just exudes happiness! She walked into The Myth as chill as can be and I knew it was going to be a super fun day. The ladies began to get ready and soon it was time for Melissa to see Alex for their first look. The gentlemen arrived and these two saw each other for the first time over a charming wooden bridge. There were lots of smiles and laughs, and then it was amplified when their pup came out for some more portraits.

Their wedding ceremony was tailored to them as they recited their unique vows with smiles in front of a homemade arbor that was made for them with love. After they were announced as man+wife, the party began inside and I always love the ambiance of the twinkle lights inside The Myth that gives that cozy vibe. The fresh donuts from a local cider mill were the perfect touch!

Thank you for allowing me to be part of something so special — a big congratulations to the bride+groom!
