Ann Arbor Wedding: Kelsey & Tommy

There is really no better feeling than when you are part of a wedding where you just feel in your soul that two people are meant to spend their lives together. This is how I felt throughout the day while having the honor of photographing Kelsey+Tommy’s wedding.

Not only did these two exude happiness+love for one another, but so did their families. Both sets of parents stood up at their reception and toasted to the duo they all knew as small children and gushed about how happy they are that these families are now officially joined as one. These two are not only wonderful people, but they are equally gorgeous on the outside. Tommy looked so suave in his grey suit and Kelsey was absolutely stunning in her bridal gown.

I was so happy that we had ample time for portraits at the Law Quad as I quite literally had to force myself to put my camera down so we could wrap up and head to the reception at the Kensington Hotel. The floral designs by Something Borrowed Blooms were elegant and simple adding a small pop of color to the romantic candlelight atmosphere.

This wedding day was absolutely perfect and I am so happy for this awesome couple. Congratulations, you two! xo

Aloft Detroit Hotel Wedding: Beth & Eric

I’m just going to gloat here for a moment and say that this may very well be the only wedding held in an insanely fabulous room at the Aloft Detroit at The David Whitney and it was nothing short of spectacular! In fact, that was the vibe the entire day. Not only are Beth+Eric gorgeous, but they are equally as wonderful people and I was so happy to be a part of their day. Beth donned her gown at the Aloft Hotel and I knew today was going to be incredible as I shot a few bridal portraits inside those marble hallways before we went to meet her groom. The Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament held their heartfelt ceremony and there was pure joy on everyone’s faces as Beth’s father escorted her down the aisle to meet her very dapper groom. After that it was off to the DIA for some portraits with their super fun wedding party, with a pit stop at The Belt for a few more shots prior to heading back to The David Whitney Building. This industrial black and white room was completely transformed with all of the greenery and florals by Jen House Design, golden touches and glowing candlelight. I loved their cake by The Epicurean Group, and Purple Clover Events did a wonderful job at keeping everything on schedule. Not one detail was overlooked and it was so great working alongside the Killer Creations video team. I wish these two nothing but a real-life happily ever after. Congratulations! xo

Wabeek Country Club: Marionna & Kyle

I had been looking forward to seeing this sweet (and stunning!) couple since I shot their engagement session, so when I pulled up to Marionna’s beautiful new family home for her getting ready portraits and saw all of the windows with the gorgeous natural light, I was in love! Every detail of her ensemble had been carefully thought out and I was SO EXCITED when she showed me an empty room with those windows and dark wood floors. It was the perfect getting ready location and she did so alongside her mom and three sisters. There were lots of smiles and laughs, but my favorite part was when Marionna gifted her mom a framed drawing of her wedding gown – such a thoughtful memento! After some portraits at home, it was time to head to the church to see her groom at the Shrine Chapel of Our Lady of Orchard Lake. Kyle looked so handsome as he met his bride at the front of the altar and you know I could have kept them in front of my camera for hours, both on the grounds of the church and for some quick portraits on the course of the Wabeek Country Club as we tried to beat the incoming rain. Inside, this reception was decked out with insanely gorgeous florals by Bellisario, a beautiful cake by Elegance in Sugar, a full coffee bar from The Cappuccino Man (complete with their initials on top!), an ice luge with their signature drinks and even a cigar roller. Write Impressions made the beautiful invitations and Loren of LDT EVENTS kept the day running smoothly. Fun does not begin to describe the evening for this wonderful couple. A huge congrats to the new Mr.+Mrs.!

The Westin Southfield Detroit: Brittney & Shannon

Brittney is the girl who knows what she wants. She’s decisive and that is what I adore about her! One of my favorite details was the gorgeous lace neckpiece that attached to the bodice of her beautiful wedding gown. She had explained it to me earlier, but when I saw it being attached during the getting ready portion of the day, only then did I realize how unique this truly was. It was worn for the ceremony, which made her strapless dress lovely and demure, and then she removed it for the reception and added a jeweled necklace in its place. SO FUN! When we headed down to the atrium at the Westin Southfield for their first look, I was able to see Shannon for the first time and he looked ever so handsome! I fell in love with these two during their engagement session and they again easily fell into a natural rhythm for their portraits. The light was beautiful in the atrium with the sun shining through and before we knew it, it was time to wrap up portraits and say those vows! It was an intimate ceremony filled with a lot of love and kudos to the staff for flipping the space so quickly for the reception! The remainder of the evening went off without a hitch, but I have to tell you, one of my favorite moments of the evening is when Brittney danced with her mother for a special parent dance. I certainly was teary behind the camera! A huge and loving congratulations to this incredible bride+groom! xo

Detroit Athletic Club wedding: Katie & Alex

I had such a good time with Katie+Alex at their engagement shoot that I had absolutely been looking forward to shooting their wedding! Katie was all smiles and totally relaxed when I first saw her at the Detroit Athletic Club. The girls were just finishing getting ready and before long it was time for Katie to don her gorgeous gown and meet her handsome groom for their first look. It was a sunny, hot summer day in the city, but the wedding party powered through portraits in that full sun — and it was absolutely worth it! The heartfelt ceremony was held at the always impressive St. Peter & Paul Jesuit Church and it was then time to get the party started back at the DAC. Before we headed back to the venue, we first made a quick pit-stop at Belt Alley for some fun portraits and The Dan Rafferty Band was waiting and ready to rock when we returned. As always the reception room at the DAC looks gorgeous with flowers by Jen House Design, and invitations by R.S.V.P. Following the sweet words of the toasts, we headed up to the rooftop for some sunset portraits overlooking the city, which was my favorite part of the evening. These two deserve nothing but a lifetime of happiness. A huge congrats to this sweet bride+groom!
