Ann Arbor Engagement session: Katie & Matt

11.5.18

I had so much fun at Katie and Matt’s engagement session at the law quad on the U of M campus. I haven’t had too many chances to shoot in Ann Arbor- especially with such wonderful weather.

Every spot made for the perfect backdrop, and I was simply in awe at all of the lovely possibilities for shooting locations!

As an added bonus, Katie and Matt met and graduated from U of M. And, although I’m a State fan and grad myself, I could see why the two are so enamored with the campus. It’s always so nice when a couple has a personal reason for choosing an engagement session location!

They are adorable together and are so so sweet. You can tell how much they care for one another from the moment you meet them, and I couldn’t be more excited to photograph their big day!

The Dearborn Inn: Elizabeth & John

10.22.18

Elizabeth and John are such an amazing and sweet couple. It came as no surprise that their wedding day was equally perfect.

The events began at the beautiful Dearborn Inn, where the reception was to be held later that day. Elizabeth and her bridesmaids looked so relaxed and pretty in their matching robes, but were exceptionally lovely in their gowns. Liz’s dress was the perfect combination of simple and elegant, and may very well be one of my favorite gowns to date!

When we headed to the front of the building for the first look, and John saw his beautiful bride for the first time, you could physically feel the love and adoration the two have for one another. Those same emotions were evident throughout the day, and I was able to capture sweet looks and soft smiles that the coupled shared during the wedding ceremony at the gorgeous Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament.

The reception kicked off with a few hilarious speeches and was a joyous occasion filled with laughter and dancing. The reception room looked gorgeous with hints of blush flowers on the tables and gold Chiavari chairs. The Pastry Palace made a beautiful three-tiered cake for the occasion and it was a pleasure to work with The Dan Rafferty Band.

Huge congratulations to both Elizabeth and John. It was such a pleasure to photograph your day!

Lafayette Grande Wedding: Catherine & Daniel

10.18.18

Photographing weddings is always so much fun. However, it’s especially great when you get to work with a couple as sweet and laid back as Cathy and Dan.

We started the day off by taking photos of everyone getting ready at the homes of the “Man of Honor” and the “Best Man”. I especially love when my brides and grooms decide to take prep photos at a residence, as it gives the day such a personal feel.

We then headed to the Grosse Point Academy chapel for Cathy and Dan to exchange their vows. The church was gorgeous both inside and out. With its ivy-covered stone walls and lovely lighting, it made for the perfect location for the couple’s ceremony.

The pair chose the Lafayette Grand as their reception venue. This location had personal significance for Dan as one of his groomsmen owns it, and he actually worked there during high school! This was the second wedding in a row where I shot at this specific venue. I specifically loved the floral details and blush tones Courtyard Flowers brought to the table. This venue has the most beautiful art deco decor which makes it the perfect choice for any couple.

Cathy and Dan’s wedding day was perfect, and I wish them the best of luck as they begin this new chapter of their life together!

Lafayette Grande Wedding: Yana & Jonathan

10.4.18

I have been looking forward to Yana and Jon’s big day ever since my bridal consult with Yana over a year ago. Weddings can be very overwhelming. However, on the day we met, Yana already had most of the details worked out and was so excited to share them with me. I could tell from her eagerness that their wedding was going to be a joyous affair!

Thus, it was no surprise that Yana and Jon’s big day was nothing short of amazing. The bride looked simply gorgeous in her exquisitely detailed ball gown, and the two picked the perfect venue- The Lafayette Grand- in which to exchange their nuptials.

However, it wasn’t the clothing or location choices which made the event so special. The couple incorporated Yana’s passion for music, as well as their friends and family, as a central theme to their service. Surrounded by their loved ones, the ceremony was filled with music, dancing, and laughter. It truly felt like a celebration of their love for one another.

The ballroom at The Lafayette Grand looked absolutely beautiful! I loved the hints of burgundy throughout. The cake by Lakes Cakes was stunning and Claudia of C3 Experiences did a great job planning the day!

The passion and joy Yana and Jon share with one another is obvious. I have no doubt that the couple has a long and happy future together to look forward to!

Townsend Hotel Wedding: Amanda & Ted

9.12.18

As a wedding photographer, I get the chance to meet a lot of amazing couples. While each and every one is special, there are a few that really stand out. Amanda and Ted are one of those couples.

The pair lives in Montana and booked me without meeting face-to-face. Because of the distance between us, we weren’t able to schedule an engagement session. Thus, when Amanda reached out earlier this summer asking to arrange a quick “sit down” to get to know one another, I jumped at the opportunity.

It was at this meeting that I knew the wedding day was going to be amazing.

And, I was right!

Amanda and Ted are perfect for one another. The love between them is so very obvious, and I couldn’t be happier for the two of them.

The entire affair was a joyous occasion. Amanda was cool, calm, collected, and ridiculously STUNNING in her gown. It’s no wonder that Ted is so enamored with her!

Surrounded by family and friends, the couple said “I do”, and held their reception at the ever-fabulous Townsend Hotel. Their decor was simply amazing! I loved the gorgeous colors Amanda incorporated, especially the soft hues in the flowers by Parsonage Events and the ombre cake by LW Cake Design blew me away! As an extra special touch, Amanda made all of the signage, invites, and paper products herself. She is so very talented!

However, what struck me the most about this event was the obvious love and support the couple has from their friends and family. There was not just one toast. Instead, MULTIPLE people stood to give speeches about how the two had personally touched their lives. It was clear from the joy in the room that Amanda and Ted have a positive impact on just about everyone they meet. It’s impossible to NOT adore the two!

I truly will never forget this day, or the obvious love and respect Ted and Amanda have for one another. They truly are a wonderful pair!
