pine knob mansion wedding: jamie & mike

10.12.17 - weddings by Courtney

Jamie and Mikes’ day started out beautifully at the Townsend Hotel and just got better as the day progressed. Amongst the chaos surrounding their home, they and half their wedding are from Florida, where hurricane Irma was making an unwelcome visit (literally during their wedding). Jamie and Mike had the best perspective. As soon as I saw Jamie she was so focused on the positive, “So glad we picked Michigan for our wedding day.” I very much enjoyed documenting their gorgeous wedding.

Jamie was stunning in her lace dress complimented with her flowers by PETIT FLEUR EVENTS and bridesmaids in soft pink and cream. Her grandparents were remembered in a beautiful frame attached to her bouquet. I particularly loved how she had sewn her baby bonnet into her dress. It was the perfect amount of old and new.

Their first look was staged in the wooded gardens of Pine Knob Mansion. We then did the majority of their photos so once the ceremony started they would have plenty of time to celebrate with their guest. The Ceremony site at Pine Knob Mansion is absolutely amazing. The gazebo sits at the top of giant rolling hills which is absolutely stunning. Their ceremony was extra personal with one of their groomsmen as the officiant (love that) and the second it was finished the party began. Guests enjoyed the most delicious appetizers out on the back patio. Mini Coney dogs, chicken and waffles, friend mac n’ cheese and sliders n’ fries could have made anyone’s night but that was only the beginning. Filet dinners followed with cake, and I’m sure there wasn’t a hungry person around. The cake, by the way, was made so beautifully by Love & Buttercream. The icing was layered in stripes which caught the light so beautifully. A huge thank you to the day-of coordinator Kate from Purple Clover Events.

Jamie and Mike hands down had the most darling first dance I’ve ever seen! Mike spun, dipped and twirled Jamie across the dance floor. She had the biggest smile on her face and clearly has 100% confidence in her man. It was amazing!
It was a cool September evening but it didn’t take long for the dance floor to heat up. The rest of the evening was spent dancing and laughing under the stars.
