The Mirage Wedding: Alexis & Mike

11.21.17 - weddings by Kristin G.

I’ve mentioned this many times, but one of my favorite decisions a bride can make is to choose to get ready in their family home. It’s just so meaningful to pull up to the house and see the people pouring in and out and the excitement buzzing. Now, I have known this incredible bride since our childhood so my natural instinct is to refer to her as Alexis. However, I feel like I’m the only one, so I will tell you that when I saw Lexi that morning, she looked stunning with her dark hair swept back and smoky eyes. After getting into her gown in her childhood bedroom (LOVE), we headed over to the Grosse Pointe War Memorial for her first look with her groom and for their portraits. Mike looked incredibly handsome and he was definitely ready to see his beautiful bride and begin their day together. I loved that we had full access to the War Memorial and were able to not only take gorgeous portraits outside, but also some stellar shots inside the ornate interior rooms. Before we knew it we were off to the church for a heartfelt ceremony and then over to The Mirage where the room was completely transformed and Lexi’s vision was breathtaking. The head table was anchored by sweeping white fabric which lent itself to a Grecian vibe. String lights were strewn overhead and the tables were adorned with candlelight, and beautiful flowers by Viviano's. The evening continued after dinner with dancing and music by The Block Party, ouzo shots, a gown change by the bride and, finally, a recreation of an image that Lexi adored from her parents’ wedding. It was truly a day to remember. A huge congrats to this deserving couple! xo
