detroit athletic club wedding: Chelsea & Christian

12.4.17 - weddings by Kristin G.

When we arrived at the Detroit Athletic Club, I was wondering if Chelsea was going to brave the chilly autumn air and head outdoors for portraits. It was cold, but the sun was popping out and you know I was hoping to get some of that beautiful light for her portraits. I was thrilled when she said we should go for it, so after she donned her simple, but oh-so-elegant gown and killer blue jeweled Badgley Mischka pumps, we headed outside and rocked those portraits. Before we knew it, it was time to wrap up and head over to St. John Armenian Church for a traditional Armenian ceremony. I feel so lucky when I get to experience different cultures and I LOVED the uniqueness of Chelsea and Christian’s ceremony, especially when these two were crowned King and Queen. Following the ceremony, we shot a few quick portraits outside of the church and then headed back over to the DAC where we were able to get some rooftop action overlooking the gorgeous lit city of Detroit. They entered the reception room to a traditional Armenian dance (so fun!) and the evening continued to rock on with the stylings of The Dan Rafferty Band intermixed with the music from the Armenian Band. The DAC looked gorgeous as usual, with flowers by Breath of Spring. Finally, right before it was time to go, we were able to sneak downstairs and have some fun shooting some serious portraits with the ornate details within the DAC. A huge congrats goes out to this sweet couple! xo
