Royal park hotel wedding: Cathy & Matthew

12.22.17 - weddings by Kristin G.

Cathy+Matt’s wedding was my last wedding of the season and I was super excited that I was ending such an incredible year on a high note with both a great couple and at the always fabulous Royal Park Hotel. Cathy is as grounded as they come and it’s easy to see why everyone gravitates to her. She made me laugh when I asked if her girls were going to get their dresses on to help her get in her gown and she replied that, nah, it wasn’t necessary and they can just relax while her Mom and MOH helped her. The beading on her wedding gown was stunning and I loved when she told me she had bought her champagne Badgley Mischka heels before she had even found her dress. Once she was ready, we headed downstairs where a very handsome Matt was waiting in his navy suit to see his bride for their first look. By now you all know that I am totally biased towards the first look and after they had their private moment together, we began shooting their portraits. These two (and their incredible wedding party!) were troopers, as it was cold and windy at times, but that sunlight made it all worth while. The Royal Park Hotel did not disappoint, as there are so many places to shoot incredible portraits, both inside and out, and all at one location. When we wrapped up, it was time to say their vows in the conservatory, where my favorite moment was when their mothers placed words of advice in a wine box containing wine to toast on their first, fifth and tenth anniversaries (I want that!). As we walked into the reception room I noticed the stunning floral arrangements by Christopher and Company, and elegant white cake by The Home Bakery. The night started with sentimental toasts and blessings, and the party rocked on to the musical stylings of Mike Staff Productions. The best part was ending the night with some portraits under the string lights. A hotel patron was watching our interaction and asked if Cathy and I were friends before the wedding. I smiled and said no, but that about sums up my relationship with my incredible couples. Thank you both for a wonderful ending to an already killer season. A huge congrats to the both of you! xo

Best,
kg.
