planterra wedding: chelsea & joel
1.5.18 - weddings by Courtney
|Everything about Chelsea and Joel’s wedding pointed towards winter wedding perfection. A huge snowstorm hit three days before their big day which was just enough time to clear the roads but still have beautiful white snow everywhere else. Chelsea, Joel and their bridal party were up for toughing the cold and we were able to get some beautiful outdoor photos.
The flower girls were in soft pink, tulle and lace, and bridesmaids in (my fav of the year) mint blue tulle skirts and lace tops. Chelsea looked absolutely exquisite in her Vera gown! Joel and the guys completed the look in their black suits and bow ties.
I will never tire of watching a groom’s face light up when he first sees his bride and Joel's face did just that. Chelsea and Joel shared a beautiful first look moment inside the Townsend Hotel followed by a sweet first look with her dad.
Chelsea and Joel had a charming white trolley take us to a few photo stops before heading over to Planterra for the ceremony and reception. Certain couples have an ease about them that makes my job insanely easy. This is one of those couples. They radiate happiness when together and were absolutely a joy to photograph.
After a heartfelt ceremony, with a close friend as the officiant, the party was started. I found it so touching during the speeches to learn about the dynamics of their bridal party. Not only were their closest friends the ones standing beside them this day but both Joel and Chelsea had in-laws as best man and (one) of the maid of honor’s. It was a true testament to how close this family has already become. Planterra was the perfect setting for their winter wedding. Candles and twinkle lights warmed the room. I loved all the little details, including the eucalyptus on the tables, and three cakes by Bella e Dolce, yes three! I have never seen a marbled cake before, it was amazing!
Lastly, I loved the two traditions each family has for their reception. Chelsea’s family has this amazing ball and chain that has been engraved and passed to almost 20 couples. For his side, family gathered away from the party for a super sweet sentiment from his father followed by a
toast and a shot. Your Generation, kept the dance floor rocking all night!
Thank you both for choosing me to document your day. I wish you a lifetime of happiness.
