birmingham engagement session: melissa & AJ

Melissa and AJ picked the perfect autumn day to photograph their engagement session in downtown Birmingham. The sun was just starting to set and the lighting was perfect. These two have known each other since they were kids and getting to spend time with them and getting to know them a bit better just made my heart happy. They compliment each other so well in every way and you can tell just by watching them together how much they absolutely love each other. After we finished up downtown, we swung by a local park and captures some sunset photos and a few of the two of them in the woods together. I loved that they were up for anything and I finished the session feeling like I had two new friends. Thank you Melissa and AJ for a great afternoon. I can’t wait to see you guys on your wedding day. It’s going to be a blast!

yates cider mill engagement session: heidi & tim

I met up with Heidi and Tim at Yates Cider Mill early one morning for their recent engagement session. It was a pretty brisk morning, and the parking lot was already starting to fill up with families stopping by for cider and donuts. The leaves were well into changing and it was the perfect spot for photos. We navigated easily through the crowds, and Tim happily helped keep Heidi warm throughout the session. There was tons of laughter and smiles, and I really enjoyed getting to know them and learning a bit about their love story and what brought them together. I can’t wait to see these two on their wedding day next July!

stony creek engagement session: jessica & ryan

What can I say about Jessica and Ryan's engagement session at Stony Creek other than it was a blast, and getting to hang out with them left me with a smile on my face for the rest of the day. We went to a few different spots within the park for photos, and I loved their total enthusiasm and trust for doing whatever crazy thing I asked them to do (like when I had them get into the middle of some wild flowers to get that perfect shot.) These two are the real deal. Their love for each other is so apparent once you see them together, and they made my job so easy just by being themselves. I am so beyond excited to spend their wedding day with them in March.

grosse pointe engagement session: lauren & colin

Colin and Lauren chose the picturesque Edsel and Eleanor Ford House in Grosse Pointe Shores as the location for their engagement session. Lauren had worked there as an intern before becoming an archivist at the Henry Ford Museum. I have to say that I think she may have one of the coolest jobs ever! We started the session off taking some photographs around the main house itself, before heading over to the rose garden. We had a great time chatting and getting to know each other, and I had a blast learning more about their love story, which started when they both were attending U of M. Oh, and I discovered that Lauren had promised Colin a pizza dinner at their local pizza joint after their session. Smart lady! I bribe my hubby with food all of the time. I can’t wait for their wedding next year at the Inn at St. John's!

plymouth engagement session: courtney & max

The weather in Plymouth was looking pretty iffy on the day of Courtney & Max's engagement session. Storms were on the radar, and of course, knowing Michigan, the weather can change at the drop of a hat. I talked to Courtney the morning of their scheduled engagement session to see if they wanted to chance it or reschedule it for another less humid day where the skies definitely weren’t going to open up and pour down on us. She decided that they were going to go for it and I’m so glad that they did! We met up at Courtney’s parents place right outside of downtown Plymouth and walked downtown. Courtney looked amazing in her dress and Max was perfectly coordinated to compliment her. We went to a few places around downtown, including Kellogg Park, where Max proposed. It was so great getting to know them, and we had some good laughs along the way. Once you meet these two it’s super obvious that 1. They adore each other and 2. Their personalities compliment each other perfectly! After walking around downtown, we went back to Courtney’s place and took photos in their neighbors garden and the beautiful walking path behind their house. Timing really was on our side today because it started raining literally as soon as we finished the session. I cannot wait to photograph these two on their wedding day!
