Colony Club Wedding: Samantha & Terrance

I just adore New Year’s Eve Weddings! And, Samantha and Terrance’s big day was the absolute perfect way to round out a successful and fun year with Kristen Taylor & Co. This couple is just so sweet and adorable, and the entire event was absolute perfection! The duo began their day at one of my absolute favorite Detroit venues to photograph- The Detroit Foundation Hotel. This Motown gem is gorgeous and full of Detroit flavor- making it the perfect spot for brides and groom sto prepare for their big day!

After a touching first look, and various bridals at The Foundation Hotel, we headed to the Colony Club to finish up our formal photos. The cold and wind made posing outdoors rough. But, the interior of this couple’s reception venue was a wonderful weather backup! The two then held their nuptials at the intimate United Church of Christ. I don’t think there was a dry eye in the house as Samantha and Terrance recited their personalized vows to one another. And, no New Year’s Eve wedding is complete without a resplendent party! After a fabulous dinner and drinks, the couple rang in the New Year with their closest family and friends- looking forward to what I’m sure will be a wonderful first year of marriage.

The entire day was simply magical, and I couldn’t be more happy for this sweet and charming couple! Congrats you two!

Macedonian Cultural Center Wedding: Laura & Mitchell

I had such an amazing time at Laura and Mitchell’s engagement session, that I just knew their wedding day would be an absolute blast. And boy, was I right! The two are just as beautiful on the inside as they are on the outside. Calm, funny, and super sweet, there was no doubt that their event would be extra special.

Laura looked absolutely stunning in her simple and elegant gown, and Mitchell was her equal in his dark blue tux with black accents.

The pair was married at St. Mary of the Hills, surrounded by their family and friends- whose joy for them was positively palpable.

It poured rain the entire day, but we didn’t let that stop us. Though we were limited by the weather in our group shots, Laura and Mitchell were up for anything. They toughed the damp, cold day with my crew and I- ensuring that we were able to capture beautiful images to preserve the memory of their nuptials.

We wrapped up this amazing event at Macedonian Cultural Center, and took what was perhaps my favorite shot of the night under a dark night sky and pouring rain.

I am so happy for Laura and Mitchell, and can’t wait to hear what the future has in store for them!

The Reserve Birmingham wedding: Monika & Marco

Monika and Marco’s wedding was absolutely perfect in every way. My team and I simply adored working with everyone involved.

Perhaps that is why their event seemed so very special. It was important to the couple that their family be a part of the entire process. From choosing to get ready in the homes they grew up in, to setting aside special time for family portraits- it is clear how much Monika and Marco cherish the relationships and people in their lives.

It also helped that the duo was a DREAM to photograph. Monika is a hair and makeup artist, and it showed. There is absolutely NO WAY she could have looked more stunning than she did that day. And, can we take a minute to swoon over her gown? With its intricate beading, long sleeves, and stunning cut out details, it was so, so elegant. Not to be outdone, Marco looked insanely dapper in his velvet suit coat and shoes!

The ceremony and reception took place at The Reserve Birmingham in a gorgeous outdoor tent. Monika's bouquet and elegant reception decore by The Petal Lady was amazing. The couple’s vows had us all crying- they were so heartfelt and warm. I absolutely love when my couples personalize their nuptials. And, the tears didn’t stop there- loving speeches by the maids of honor and best man meant there was hardly a dry eye in the house.

The pair shares so much love with each other and everyone around them, that it’s hard to imagine anything but a perfect life ahead of them. I am so happy for the pair, and wish them the best in their lives together!

St. john's banquet & conference center wedding: Summer & Michael

I have been anticipating Summer and Mike’s wedding day for months- ever since their amazing engagement session in May. The pair is extremely sweet and photogenic- and having beautiful images to remember their day is immensely important to them. (My dream clients!)

Their event couldn’t have been more perfect. Not only did the entire bridal party look smashing, but they were truly the sweetest group I have ever worked with! We had a few hiccups with the timeline - including some unexpected rain - but the bridal party didn’t miss a beat, and were so supportive, helpful and attentive to the bride!

Summer is absolutely gorgeous, and looked STUNNING in her gown. She has fantastic taste, and everything- from her jewelry to her shoes - were unique and beautiful. And, not to be outdone, Mike looked positively debonair in his formal tux with a white jacket. (One of my favorites this year!)

Surrounded by their family and friends, the couple said their vows and held their reception at the lovely St. John's Banquet & Conference Center. Their decor was so elegant, and the cake by Sweet Dreams was the largest and most intricate of any I’ve ever seen!

We managed to squeeze in a few shots of Summer and Mike with the antique Rolls Royce they had brought in specifically for that day- despite a torrential downpour- and finished the night with some amazing moves on the dance floor!

I am so happy for these two, and know life has so many good things in store for them.

Congratulations Summer and Mike!

The garden theater Detroit wedding: Hilary & Larry

Hilary and Larry’s wedding was such a treat to photograph. From the moment we arrived at the Shinola Hotel, my crew and I knew that the day was going to be special.

This was my first time shooting at this establishment, and I couldn’t have been more pleased with the room layout. The adorable boutique furniture pieces, and industrial floor to ceiling windows truly set the stage for gorgeous “getting ready” shots.

And, I really admired that the couple incorporated their love of Detroit into their wedding day photos. They chose to hold their formals at The Detroit Athletic Club (where Larry is a member), as well as at Hart Plaza. It was very important to them that elements of their beloved city be visible in the pictures- including the gorgeous Detroit skyline and Renaissance Center. Luckily, I was more than happy to oblige!

The duo’s ceremony and reception took place at the amazing Garden Theater . I simply adore the venue’s hip and classy vibe. And, the stunning florals by Viviano Flower Shop and chosen details truly made the pair’s wedding one-of-a-kind. The pair chose to incorporate significant dances from their cultural backgrounds, and even decided to have ice cream sandwiches by Cool Jacks in lieu of wedding cake! These personal touches truly made the day extra special!

It was so wonderful to be a part of Hilary and Larry’s wedding, and I just know that they have many happy years ahead of them!
